Bigger. Louder. This IS Middle School.
Amp Up! originated to meet the overwhelming demand for middle school-specific professional development opportunities. Middle school after-school practitioners expressed a strong need to network with their peers, identify promising practices, and participate in workshops that were aimed at the unique needs of middle school students and middle school after-school programs.
Since 2008, The Region 9 Technical Assistance Center (RTAC) at the San Diego County Office of Education has hosted Amp Up!, providing middle school practitioners the opportunity to participate in high-quality middle school-specific trainings, forums for sharing promising practices, and opportunities to learn from experts in the field…each other!
In 2011, RTAC partnered with The California Afterschool Network to take the Amp Up! Conference national! The first annual Amp Up! Conference was held March 2011, boasting more than 50 dynamic workshops, a nationally recognized keynote, youth participation and performances, and top-of-the line networking receptions along San Diego's famous Mission Bay.
RTAC and the California Afterschool Network remain committed to providing high-quality professional development opportunities to equip middle school practitioners to run stellar programs. We hope that you join us!
